Traditional Strawberry Tea
TRADITIONAL STRAWBERRY TEA
Our 1st Annual Strawberry Tea was a hit with the Congregation and Community. We had a full house on the hour. During the Tea there was a back room book sale with lots of books and many went home with more than one.
2nd Affirming Church Anniversary
Our Service took place at the Angling Association and it was very well attended. We celebrated our 2nd year anniversary. We acknowledged the volunteers throughout the year who we could not do many things alone. The puppet show is always a hit!!!
Cooking Classes
The ladies from Kindred Home Care have completed the meal tutorials.
Here is Christy, front, L-R Seme, Debbie, Miriam, and Bankie.
Wellness Retreat
CLG put on a retreat! The focus was health and wellness. Jane started off the day with great information on healthy eating ideas and provided delicious snacks made with yummy ingredients! Then Karen led us in a great introduction to Yoga. We were relaxed in our chairs and learned some good stretches, none that turned us into pretzels! She finished of with a peaceful meditation.
Lunch break and then Tania presented a talk on managing stress, lots of great ideas and handouts to refer to at home.
All in all it was a success, we are looking forward to the next one!
Ukrainian Egg Workshop
This has become an annual event here at Quispamsis United. This year was just as fun with lots of laughter and fun had by all.
Outreach Committee - Socks & Underwear
We had so much support this year from our Congregation. In our most recent drive, we donated 199 pairs of socks, 143 pairs of underwear, and 3 undershirts. The items were distributed amongst Outflow ministry, Hestia House and Romero House. They all expressed much appreciation.
St. Patrick's Day
The luck o’ the Irish was very much in evidence at coffee hour after the service on Sunday. A very talented wee leprechaun prepared this beautiful Saint Paddy’s Day table with cake, cookies, and some lucky gold coins! It may not be easy being green but that didn’t stop many in the congregation who got into the spirit with green shirts, scarves, hats and buttons…. And of course shamrocks in abundance! More fellowship and good fun at QUC! 🍀🍀🍀
Faith Profile Report
Following yesterday’s Sunday Service, the QUC congregation unanimously approved a "Faith Profile Report" that outlines the focus for ministry that the congregation will pursue over the next several years, and identifies the type of permanent minister we'll be looking for. Kudos to the Committee for a great job! And here's a photo of many of our members who gathered this morning (including those on Zoom!)
Study Series - Kate Bowler
Rev Ian started his 3-week discussion (via Zoom) of Kate Bowler’s moving memoir, Everything Happens For a Reason, and Other Lies I’ve Loved. Bowler writes openly and honestly about being diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, wrestling with the question of how such a bad thing could happen to a “good” person like her, and developing a new awareness of how God is present in the midst of life’s fragilities, messiness, and disappointments.
In-House Music "Jammers"
The Jammers once again graced us with three songs for this Sunday’s Service. You can learn more about the Jammers by visiting our _____ page. Please enjoy the music by the Jammers.
Lenten Study Series
Rev. Manson began with our Lenten Study Series. As part of our ongoing efforts to make connections with other groups in our community, Rev Ian will be leading a five-week exploration of some of the world’s major religions on Tuesday mornings at the church. Growing numbers of people from various parts of the world are moving to southern New Brunswick and bringing their religious traditions with them, so this is a great opportunity to begin learning about some of the beliefs and values of our new neighbours. We’ll be looking at the basic tenets of Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and Judaism, and examining some of the similarities and differences between their traditions and ours.
Romero House - Speaker Evelyn McNulty
Romero House Volunteer, Evelyn McNulty was part of our Monthly Community Connections. She gave a powerful story of her life volunteering at Romero House and the ups and downs during the Pandemic in 2020.
Shrove Tuesday
Our pancake supper was superb! There were so many cooks in the kitchen!!! After a slow start, which gave the cooks time to get ahead of the pancakes, MacDonald Hall was filled with people in no time at all. The tables were adorned by vases of flowers done by Sharon Eldridge, our in-house florist! There were more desserts than were needed, but if you have to take two of each to get them gone…..go for it! Another success!
Blessing Bags
QUC is awesome! The congregation once again supported the Blessing Bags initiative beyond our wildest dreams. A small army of men took all the bags and water up into the office. Staff, volunteers and clients were so very appreciative of the bags. We were told their supplies were getting low so our effort was very timely. Along with the more than 50 bags, $150.00 was also collected, we used this money to purchase Tim Horton gift cards.
Community Connections - KV Food Bank
The Affirming Committee presented Worship Service on January 24th. The guest speaker was Brian Riganesi speaking about our local KV Food Basket. This service was focused on food insecurity and prayers related to this in our Community and Province. Listen below to Brian’s presentation.
